Box Stock is the most economical. You can pick up the motors race ready from Gus at the track or most engine builders probably have them. You can also buy them at Harbor Freight but you probably have to make a couple of mods on those.

Many people wish they would just go away, but flatheads are still around. We have them every week. If you want to go Briggs you would probably be better off, IMHO, to go with an overhead valve motor and run Animal.

I raced at Beaver Creek in 1998 and have given some thought to getting back into racing. I'm totally lost now on the engines available and what is the best way to go. the box stock sounds like it would be economical but I know nothing about the class. are the old flatheads still running? Any input here would be appreciated.

Animal House on To Race or Not to Race

OK Racers, we are out of middle Tennessee and drive 2 hours to come to BCS. We have no Maxxis tires, only Burris. I read in track rules nothing but Maxxis tires. Does that mean we cannot race? We have been family racing for 20 years, so none of us are young, son 30 animal super heavy, daughter 32 flathead stock light and daddy 56 open animal stroker. Winning is great but we love the sport of kart racing and just want to have a weekend of fun and be together as a family. We do not always find our classes. Box stock and clones seem to dominate the local tracks. Do any drivers or owners have a problem with us bringing what we got and having some fun at BCS.

Did anyone happen to pick up a red Digatron Beacon we left at the track last year. We have somebodies AIM/Mycron beacon. Want work with Digatron. Gary and Kilbey know about it. Please let us know or see Gary or Kilbey and we will be glad to swap or something.

well yes I know thare will be a 375 class but what I meant was I’d like to run a heavier class where the driver must weigh 200 or more. that would give us bigger drivers a opp. to run in a class more suitable for us. we just can’t compete with the smaller drivers. but that is just a suggestion. hey it may help bring in a new cart or 2. and that can’t hurt us at all. i’d really love to race again but i’d like it to be with drivers my size or at least closer to my size.
